What We Do

On one hand our country is growing rapidly and we are progressing at a rate that the whole world is watching with awe. At the same time we continue to face a whole lot of problems as a society. Governments will come and go, they will do their bit but it is naive to assume that government alone can solve all our problems.

It is the citizens who collectively form the society. And the best way to solve societal issues is for us citizens to come together as one. This does not absolve the government of its duties, but to say that government alone is responsible for all ills in our society and so government alone should solve all issues is also incorrect. This has been the fundamental thought behind the formation of THE GRATITUDE FOUNDATION .

Various issues afflicting our society were discussed. Deatailed studies on the work being done by other NGOs were undertaken. education, eldercare, environment, crime, orphans, corruption, inequality, the list is endless. every issue you look into deserves attention.

So where to start? We set out to indentify the most vulnerable groups in the society. A lot of meetings with various government departments were organised, visits to orphanages, old age homes and various other institutions both government run and non government were undertaken. Finally, we arrived at a consesus that DESTITUDE WOMEN- women who have been widowed/ abandoned by husbands as well as family with no financial support are among the most vulnerable. Many have been abandoned with children to take care of . Life for such women is living hell and beyond imagination for most of us. Can you imagine a life where you dont even know when and where your next meal will come from? Now imagine the level to which such a woman can be exploited even for a morsel of bread. To cut a long story short, we have come to the consensus that we need to focus on empowering destitude women.

Project Recycle

As an additional innitiative we also support bright young children who have lost a parent but are bright students. To boost their morale we provide them with bicycles to help them commute to school. We purchase old bicycles, repair them and then hand them over to the children. Thus the name "Recycle".

To set an example for our beloved citizens that we can solve a whole lot of issues and make this world a better place just by coming together.

MISSION

To empower destitute women by providing them with skills and resources that help them attain self sufficiency so that they can live free from the vulnerability of exploitation .

None of us takes any remuneration for the work we are doing. The entire contribution goes into fulfilment of our mission and achieving our aim.
